What is an affectionate breed of dog that needs little exercise for my father who has depression?
I think buying a dog for my father to help him overcome depression. My father is 68 years and did not leave the house much. It is very clean and I want a dog will be a faithful companion, own and hopefully cheer him up. Hopefully this is not a breed of dog out there that fits the bill. Please help me, help my father, for suggesting a suitable dog breed.
I would definitely suggest to your father before buy / rescue or do not want one. 
Or even just innocent snoop and ask questions about dogs … If you want to be a surprise. To lose your time or money. However dogs, Yorkshire Terriers are small, shed little and are perfect for apartments because they can get all their exercise indoors. (This would be perfect for your father, as he does not leave much!) And are extremely friendly. I forgot ie: You can buy a dog a little over a rescue plan, and are typically installed and enjoy things more slowly. And they were been sterilized. (I would not recommend a new puppy.)
